People love pictures aka “eye-candy” and that’s why Pinterest is such a great place. It’s packed full of eye-candy for anything and everything you can imagine. You may already have an account with Pinterest.
Are you using your Pinterest account effectively?
If not, no worries! You can create an account for free. I suggest you do this because it’s a simple way to directly connect with potential clients.
Pinterest for real estate agents is great, I’ll show you why.
(The quick version.) Here’s how it works. Users are known as “pinners” and they scroll through images, when they see one they like they can then “pin” the image to one of their boards. Think of boards as categories, boards can be named anything the pinner choses.
Essentially you’re collecting pins. They can be pins someone else has pinned or you may upload your own. Keep in mind Pinterest is very visual and only the best looking images are re-pinned.
Example of boards are: food, places to visit, travel, homes, back yards ideas, kitchens to die for, automobiles, workouts, hairstyles, nails, landscapes — the list is endless! If you want to see images of something — anything, you can.
Who Uses Pinterest?
There’s a lot of people (potential clients) here. After only being open for two years Pinterest ranks third most popular social media network (in the USA) just behind Facebook and Twitter. Pinterest has show incredible grow and that’s important to know because your only want to spend your time where the people are at.
Here’s a statistic to make you mindful of the majority audience. As of February 2015, 71 percent of Pinterest users were women. That equates to over 72 million women, the usage demographics are slowly changing.
Mobile? Yes! Pinterest has an app. I’ve been a mobile user from the beginning and can say that Pinterest has continually upgraded their app, it gets better and better.
It’s really easy to use on the go. I’m not the only person who uses their app either. At least 75 percent of Pinterest activity takes place on mobile devices (important fact, more on that later).
Connecting With People
You can follow other pinners and they can follow you. There is also the option of following select boards instead of all of them, you can not want to follow their boards about motorcycles however they have several board about home renovation that you may want to follow. You’re allowed to do that and vise versa.
Don’t be a machine and only post the same thing over and over again. Show some variety, even include some things that aren’t real estate related to show your human. Show off your unique personality.
Like ALL social media, the goal is to connect and build trust. You want people to connect and re-pin your pins.

These are just a few idea’s to get you started. Make it enjoyable and have fun with it.
What now? You have all these boards, multiple pins inside them. What happens next? Each pin itself is an image that can be clickable. By clickable I mean that when the person clicks on it, they are taken to a website.
A website that you can choose! Such as your personal site. Let me say that again. When people click on your pins they are taken directly to a website of your choice!
Each pin also has a description, that description can be modified to say what you want and can also contain a clickable link of your choice.
This is a big deal! By doing this you are creating traffic to your website and that’s what you want.
Remember, 75 percent of these pinners are mobile. Make sure your website is mobile responsive, if not, users will leave and your effort is wasted.
