As a REALTOR(R) you know that to be a successful real estate agent your going to need good habits. Here are 3 habits to master that keep you going and doing the activities that produce the results you need.
There are many types of successful agents, not all are obnoxiously outgoing and outspoken. Some are cool and laid back, always stay calm and some are natural social butterflies.
Regardless of individual personalities, I’ve talked with many successful agents and what sticks out as a commonality is they’re all passionate about the business and have excellent habits that work from them.
Often we take habits for granted, such as breathing, eat and sleeping. They are so automatic that we often do them without much effort or thought. Then there are daily morning habits like brushing our teeth, stretching, reading or planning our day.
To help you be successful in business there are some universal habits that you’ll want to excel at.
Responding to calls and emails at epic speed can make the difference in success or not. Answering existing clients emails, text, and phone calls at lightning bolt speed is essential. Even if you don’t have the answer to their question on the spot you still need to acknowledge the contact and let them know when to expect the answer.
Imagine not quickly responding to a lead, what happens then? Well, you dropped the ball and there are many agents waiting for that to happen. The lead goes somewhere else. Just as fast as they filled out a contact form on your website and you didn’t respond at lightning speed they went to another website and contacted another agent.
This happens all day long. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve received a lead and they tell me they contacted other agents first but none of them responded. You’ll begin to hear things like, “your the first agent that called me right back”. That’s a sign your doing it right.
Last comments about communication is to switch to the method the clients likes best. If they text, then you text, if they email, then you use email. Make it easy for them, our phones today allow us to use any method they choose (well almost).
Get into the habit of being able to explain everything your doing. Now, I know some of you are thinking no way, that you have a client who just says get on with it and don’t waste their time explaining everything. That’s true and fine. Some clients are like that and it’s ok.
Most clients are not like that, and expect you to explain things. So be in the habit of explaining things, if the client says your giving them to much information than you need to respect that and make it simpler for them. Give them the abbreviated version. You need to pay attention to any signs they give.
Be prepared to explain every line of a contract, or listing agreement. Those are questions that you will want to be prepared for. Your allowed to not know everything however they will expect you to know everything on those.
When talking about habits I can’t leave lead generation out. It’s like the number one habit you need to be a success. You can’t be successful without clients, so you need to lead generate daily.
There are many different types of lead generation and you should master at least two or three types. Which ever you choose as your main staple of leads you should make it mandatory to spend two to three hours a day at it. Morning usually work best.
However with that being said, any successful agent will tell you their generating leads all day long. You should be too.
These are just a few habits that successful real estate agents master.
